Proverbs 22:17-18 "Pay attention and listen to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips."

One of the greatest gifts I think we can give anyone is to memorize Scripture, so that we can give them a word of direction, support, grace, correction, forgiveness, or hope. There have been a few times in my life when I was facing a particularly difficult situation, and a spiritual mentor/friend spoke biblical truth into my life. In each of those situations it was as if God himself had spoken directly to me. I wish those kind of moments would happen more often, but I fear that there simply are not enough people who know what Scripture says for that to happen.
