• Great start to our first series of 2011 today!
  • We kicked off a series called "Plan B" with a message on dealing with shattered dreams.
  • Matt did a great job of preaching on the story of Elijah.
  • Loved the A Team shout-out...from what I could tell there were a lot of children of the 80's and A-Team fans in the house!
  • I also loved God's response to Elijah's brokenness and lack of trust...he cared for Elijah's needs, and then challenge him to "go back the way you came"...meaning, "face your pain" and trust me in your pain.  What a great challenge for all of us.  Rather than running when life disappoints what if we would choose to trust God and face our fears head on!
  • The band did a great job today as well!
  • Loved their version of "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Greenday to set the trouble for the day.
  • They also closed the service with one of my new favorite songs "Arms that Hold the Universe" by Fee...seriously a great song!
  • It was great to be back worshiping together as a church after not meeting last Sunday (we met on Christmas Eve instead)...also great to have some good weather!
  • Really getting excited about teaching a class called "I'm a Christian Now What?" starting next week...very few spots left if any at this point.
  • Also, if you're trying to get your financial household in order this year, be sure to register for "Financial Peace University" by emailing the church office.
  • I spent some of last week's vacation setting some goals for myself, my family, our church, and some other ministries I'm a part of...now for the execution part...it starts this week...gonna be a busy month, but well worth it!
  • One of the things I'll be doing is working through our church ministry calendar with our staff this month, as well as finishing my preaching calendar for the year...feel free to leave a comment below if there's a topic, book of the Bible, or theme you've got questions about or interested in hearing taught (no promises, but I'm always looking for what God is saying to our church).
  • Bummed that the Big 10 did so poorly yesterday...especially Michigan...I feel bad but Rich Rod looks like he's on his way out...probably deserved another year, but never seemed to be a good cultural fit at UofM.
  • Also bummed about the Bears loosing to the Packers tonight...but excited for a first round bye!
  • Finishing some reading tonight...watching a little Die Hard...and maybe a little Sunday Night Football after the girls go to bed!
  • Have a great week church!
