• Today I did something that I haven't done since June when we did our One Prayer series. I was at BridgeWay, but didn't preach.
  • Matt did a great job kicking off our U2 Christmas series with a message about Justice and Judgment vs. Reconciliation and Restoration.
  • Massive amounts of snow on the ground today...at least 7 inches at our house!
  • So couple that with the holiday weekend and it meant several people were gone, but we still had a great service and were up about 100 people over the same weekend last year!
  • Lots of craziness at BridgeWay today!
  • This U2 Christmas series requires a lot of prep musically, and this morning you would not believe the crazy stuff that happened musically!
  • Ryan (our drummer for today) got sick this weekend and couldn't play today. So we called in Nate (our SWITCH director) to drum on short notice with no practice expect the service walk-through. Nate hasn't played on Sundays since taking over our Student Ministry so it was great to hear him play again!
  • Then it got even crazier!
  • Kevin (our Lead Guitar player) had his pedal board totally freeze on him during sound check and had to totally reset the entire thing which meant that he lost all his presets (most importantly he lost his U2 presets for the two U2 songs we had planned).
  • Kevin a cool player though so he spent the walk-through reprogramming his board...that's a lot of work in not a lot of time!
  • Then it got even crazier...that's right, I said crazier!
  • Wes (our bass player) got a call, immediately following the 9:30 worship experience, from his wife that their daughter had gotten seriously ill that morning and he needed to come home and take them to the hospital immediately. So this meant that we also had no bass player for our 11:00 worship experience...so we had to cut one song "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" because it has a leading bass part...in case you didn't notice this earlier...the message for the day was "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking for"...yup we had to cut the main song for the day...bummer, but more importantly it looks like Arabella will be okay!
  • What a day!
  • In case you hadn't heard, my grandmother (Henrietta...aka Grandma Toots) who has been very sick for the last few weeks passed away last night. It's sad, but I'm glad that she's not suffering any more and we know that she heard the words "well done good and faithful servant" sometime late last night.
  • Our family will be leaving for Michigan late Monday night to be with our family for the service which will be on Wednesday...thanks to everyone who has been praying for us.
  • Speaking of prayer, would you pray for one of our great volunteers Betty Scott on Wednesday morning this week? She'll be going in for a pretty serious open heart surgery...I know she appreciates your prayers.
  • Even with all the craziness going on around BridgeWay, it's great to be a part of what God is doing here and I can't wait to see you all next Sunday for Week 2 of our U2 Christmas series. I'll be preaching a message titled "Beautiful Day".
  • My fantasy football team is currently fighting for a playoff spot in our BridgeWay league. I've got the 2nd most points overall, but have gotten blasted on the match-up front. Need a big win this week to make the playoffs!
  • Quite tired after spending 45 minutes shoveling our massively steep driveway today!
  • Getting ready to watch the Bears, pack for the week, and get myself organized for a quick day in the office tomorrow, followed by Helena's Regional basketball tournament game tomorrow night, then a late drive to Michigan...I think I should go to bed early...hoping the Bears are up by 20 at the half so I can go to bed early!
  • See you Sunday!
