5. Competency

I list this one last becasue I believe that if a person has a clear calling, passion for the ministry, Godly character and chemistry with the team; that whatever is lacking in their competency can be developed as they go. Too often churches bring in a "hired gun" with expertise in an area without doing the work of looking for the first four priorities. Some of the competencies I'm looking for are:
  • Teachable Spirit
  • Relational ability
  • Humility
  • Continual Learner
  • Team Player
  • Ability to create, communicate and execute vision

How about you, what competencies would look for in someone who was going to be working with you? What would you look for in someone you would be reporting to?
