Proverbs 19:19 "A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do it again."

I'm not sure that this passage is aimed at speaking to the issue of parenting, but I think it has a powerful application there. Too often I've seen parents rescue there children from dealing with the consequences of their choices. When that happens, it's usually not too long before they are doing it all over again. Consequences are one of God's best tools for teaching us how to live, and building character into our lives. I'm thankful for parents who let me sit in the mess I made, let me suffer the consequences and then helped me to clean up the mess.
