Just hours before the earthquake hit in Haiti, Dr. Warrick (one of the General Superintendents of the Church of the Nazarene) landed in Haiti.  Take a minute to hear his first-hand account of the earthquake and the Nazarene Church's response.

We've been working on how BridgeWay can help mobilize people to extend compassion to the people of Haiti.  After our Leadership Team meeting last night we've got a four-pronged approach:

1. Give to Haiti Relief.
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is on the ground in Haiti, and is working to provide food, water, shelter, and medical attention.  You can give directly to NCM online here.

Our student ministry Switch is raising funds through collecting loose change. They raised several hundred dollars doing this for the Haiti clean water project, and I expect them to do it again!

2. Raise Awareness through Help Haiti T-shirts.
We've printed several Help Haiti T-shirts...and will be taking orders over the next several weeks.  You can get yours for $20...and the proceeds will go to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries work in Haiti.  It will also give you an opportunity to encourage others to give.  We're hoping to see over 100 people respond to this initiative this weekend!

3. Red Cross Blood Drive.
We're meeting with the Red Cross on Monday to plan for a blood drive to respond to the great need for blood associated with natural disasters.  Please consider making it a priority to donate & to encourage others to as well.  More info on this in the next week.

4. Pray for Haiti.
Make it a priority to be praying for our brothers and sisters in Haiti, and those on the ground working to extend compassion and assistance in the next days, weeks & months.

So how about you?  What are you doing personally to extend compassion?

Pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

Unless you pay no attention to global events, then you know what I'm talking about.  Yesterday, a 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti causing devastation and heavy loss of life.  The Red Cross estimates over 3 million people have been affected, mostly in the city of Port-au-Prince.

Please pray for the people of Haiti.

Beyond prayer...please act in whatever capacity you can.

Here are a couple ways you can act:

1. Give Financially.  You can make a financial contribution to disaster relief efforts through Nazarene Disaster Response.

2. Give Blood.  One of the most essential needs following a natural disaster is blood.  You can find a local Blood Drive here.

Father be near the broken and hurting.  Protect those in harms way.  Strengthen the weak, and motivate the strong to action.
