Acts 12:5 "So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him."

This little phrase "but the church" seemed to jump off the page at me today. Peter was in prison, "but the church" was earnestly praying. It's an indicator that Luke is saying, "look out" something big is about to happen here. It looks like Peter is destined for the same end as James (who was killed)..."but the church" was earnestly praying.

What situations in your life look like they are headed for tragedy?

What would happen if the church began to earnestly pray for what appears to be a situation of eminent doom?

What situations in our community appear to be hopeless.?

I believe that God wants to transform seemingly hopeless situations...and he wants to use his church to make it happen.

70,000 people with no church home in Tazewell County..."but the church"....let's finish the rest of the sentence!

This part jumped off the page for me. For me, this truly illustrates the power of prayer.
